News & Stories Stop AAPI Hate Share By Heising-Simons Foundation on 3/25/2021 on 3/25/2021 We, like so many in the philanthropic community, are outraged at the rising number of hate crimes targeting Asian American and Pacific Islanders in this country. Structural racism pervades this country’s policies and practices. These latest acts of violence targeting Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are part of a long history of racism and exclusion against these populations. And as we’ve written before, none of us can be silent. We stand with our grantees, partners who are responding to this violence and hatred. Our staff are working on several grants to supplement this response. We will update this page as grants are made. Additionally, we wanted to share grantee partner Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya’s artwork below, which is the cover of the most recent Time Magazine issue. Amanda notes on her social media feed, “May it offer you a moment of peace and pride, and may her defiant spirit be a rallying cry for systemic change, accountability + more resources for our community.” Close Share this page Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Share on Email
