Report for America is Sending 225 Journalists Into Local Newsrooms Around the Country

In its biggest expansion since 2017, Report for America (RFA) is placing 225 journalists in 162 local newsrooms for up to two years. “The problems with local news are business model problems,” said Steve Waldman, RFA’s co-founder and president. “There is no shortage of great journalists who want to do the work.” RFA is supported by the Foundation’s Community and Opportunity program.

Predicting the Future of Greenland’s Melting Ice Sheet

Santa Clara County Launches Hotline to Help People With Questions About Coronavirus Relief

“Our outreach and legal teams have been responding to thousands of calls in just the last three weeks from people who are scared and worried and folks who are confused by the process of applying for resources that are critical to supporting their families,” said Jessica Vollmer at Working Partnerships USA. The organization is part of an effort to launch a new hotline in Santa Clara County to help people apply for social services in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
