News & Stories A Message on the Passing of Grantee Partner Mr. Corbin-Mark Share By Heising-Simons Foundation on 10/20/2020 on 10/20/2020 The Heising-Simons Foundation would like to remember Cecil Corbin-Mark, the Deputy Director and Director of Policy Initiatives at WE ACT for Environmental Justice, who unexpectedly and tragically passed away on October 15, after suffering a stroke. Mr. Corbin-Mark was a nationally recognized leader on environmental justice issues and worked for more than 25 years to protect and empower low-income communities and people of color by advocating for fair and sound environmental health and protection policies. Mr. Corbin-Mark’s work was rooted in Harlem, but his work extended to the state and federal level where he helped improve the lives of people across the country. The Heising-Simons Foundation is proud to support WE ACT’s work to build healthy, safe, and affordable communities. Mr. Corbin-Mark’s family and his WE ACT colleagues are in our thoughts. We join them in grieving the loss of a truly special leader, mentor, and environmental justice champion. Close Share this page Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Share on Email
