Women on the Rise GA is fiscally sponsored by Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs, Inc. Founded in 2013, Women on the Rise is a grassroots organization led by women of color who are targeted and/or impacted by the criminal legal system, working to educate, heal, and empower communities to demand justice, dignity and liberation for all.

This grant supports the work of Women on the Rise, including divesting from the Atlanta City Detention Center, and reallocating funds into community-based services and alternatives to formal system-involvement; ensuring formerly incarcerated people can access housing and re-entry services; and ending “extreme sentencing” practices that result in housing, economic barriers, and other collateral consequences for formerly-incarcerated women.
