The 51 Pegasi b Fellowship supports early-career planetary astronomers for up to four years. The Foundation strives to create community among the fellows by providing opportunities for professional development, collaboration, and networking. One such opportunity is the annual 51 Pegasi b summit that brings together current fellows, fellow alumni, university faculty members, observatory staff, and Foundation representatives.

This year, the summit took place at the Cavallo Point Lodge in Sausalito, California. It brought together 28 fellows and alumni representing all six fellowship classes (2017-2022). Also in attendance were planetary astronomy faculty members, graduate students, and representatives of the Foundation. Several additional fellows, alumni, and faculty members also participated virtually. During the three days of the meeting, fellows gave presentations about their research and participated in workshops, training sessions, panel discussions, and team building activities.

We are very excited to see this planetary astronomy community grow, especially since the new 51 Pegasi b postdoctoral Fellowship cycle brought a record number of 126 applications. The new class of fellows will be announced in March 2023.
