News & Stories ‘Spaces For Good’ Connects Bay Area Nonprofits to Available Work Spaces Share By Holly Kreider on 4/10/2018 on 4/10/2018 It’s no secret that the San Francisco Bay Area has one of the highest real estate costs in the United States. A 2016 report from Northern California Grantmakers revealed that office prices in the Bay Area had increased 122 percent over the past five years, and that most of the nonprofits surveyed were seriously concerned about the ways in which the real estate market may affect their long-term sustainability. In response to this gap in affordability, the Northern California Community Loan Fund launched Spaces for Good earlier this year. Spaces for Good is an online platform that specifically helps Bay Area nonprofits find affordable office and event work spaces––whether for short, one-time engagements, or for longer and more traditional leases. The site is completely free to use, and also includes information and resources around leasing. In 2017, the Heising-Simons Foundation’s Community and Opportunity program joined the Sobrato Family Foundation in supporting the platform’s expansion into the South Bay and Peninsula. The platform is also supported by the New Resource Bank, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, and the Y & H Soda Foundation. We invite you to explore Spaces for Good here.
